How do you become a Neuroengineering student?

If you are interested in a career in neuroengineering, at the undergraduate level we recommend doing either a Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics, and rounding out your degree with neuroscience/psychology related electives. If you are a student of The University of Melbourne, it may be possible to do your 4th year or Honours year project under the supervision of a member of the neuroengineering group. There are also paid undergraduate research opportunities available through the UROP scheme.

At the postgraduate level, we currently recommend completing either a Masters or PhD in Biomedical Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering. When applying for such degrees, we recommend contacting a member of the neuroengineering group with similar research interests to yours.

Depending on the desired research/degree level, there are various sources of student funding. Contact us to find out about potential funding sources, or to ask us if a particular scholarship is the right one for you.
